The crew at SilencerCo have designed a first-of-its-kind sidearm that is truly going to be a game changer in the market. The Maxim® 9 has a fully integrated silencer built into the pistol and you have to see it to believe. You may have seen these in .22s or rifles, but this is really the first 9 mm pistol that has the suppressor built in.
You will no longer have to choose between putting your hearing at risk versus adding the weight and length of a suppressor with one of these. Weighing in at 2 lbs., 5 oz., the Maxim® 9 is only slightly heavier than a fully loaded Gen5 Glock 17. It may take a bit of extra range time to adjust to the length, but at least it is “holsterable.” You’re also able to shorten the configuration by up to one inch, but this will limit you to subsonic rounds for the suppressor to be effective.
So how does it hold up in testing? Standard rounds are still loud enough that you’ll want to wear some hearing protection with the Maxim® 9, but there’s a big difference with subsonic rounds. Any way you look at it, the Maxim® 9 is a huge leap forward in sidearm and suppressor technology.
The guys at Demolition Ranch put the Maxim® 9 through a battery of tests recently, using standard and subsonic rounds on a variety of targets, and posted the results to their YouTube channel. The only question you’ll have left after watching the video below is: Will the Maxim® 9 fit in my stocking this Christmas?
